Roswell City Hall Roswell, originally located in Cobb County, is located twenty miles north of Atlanta on the Chattahoochee River. Attached to Fulton County in 1932, the city is now part of the Atlanta Regional Commission, a member of the Georgia Association of Regional Commissions. With 13 parks, many well-preserved historic sites, and a position among the 14 safest cities in Georgia, Roswell is a family-oriented community. In the mid-1830s, King rebuilt a factory that would soon become the largest in North Georgia: Roswell Mill.
In 1830, during a trip to North Georgia, Roswell King passed through the area of what is now Roswell and saw the great potential to build a cotton mill along Vickery Creek. Because Roswell residents wanted local government, they submitted to the Georgia General Assembly a municipal charter for incorporation.
